
Dr.
Yuan Yao joins WCCR
as a new faculty
member of carbohydrate chemistry

Dr. Yao has a Ph.D. of Food Science
(Southern Yangtze University, China), M.S. of Chemical Engineering, and
B.S. of Polymer Science (Dalian
University
of Technology,
China
). Before joining Purdue, he spent three years as a post-doctoral
associate at the
Pennsylvania
State
University
and two years in the corn refining industry. His research expertise
includes starch biosynthesis, maize breeding, structure-function
relationship of carbohydrates, functions of carbohydrate related enzymes,
novel oligosaccharides and their applications, and functional flour
technologies for baked goods. In addition to conducting researches, he
will be teaching the class of Carbohydrate.
